PRIM, AR – DECEMBER 30, 2011

Looking out of the front door of the Prim, AR post office you can see the homes in this small rural town. Local resident, Janie Carlton, guessed there are about 50-60 residents living in Prim but the post office there served hundreds of people in the outlying areas.
The rural post office in Prim, AR is on the post office closure list and is set to shut down in 2012. The residents of the small town are not happy about the closure. For those who have PO Boxes in Prim, AR, they will now have to drive about 30 miles round trip to another post office if they decide to keep a PO Box and not put up a mailbox.
All across America there are rural post offices that are on a list to close. These are a selection of rural post offices in central Arkansas that are on that list. If the post offices are closed those who use those locations will have to travel farther to use the post office or to gather their mail out of their PO boxes. The residents near these small Arkansas towns with post offices set to close are not happy.
